India Squad Announced for Test Against Bangladesh

The BCCI has announced a 16-member squad for India’s first Test in the two-match series against Bangladesh, set to take place from September 19 to October 1, 2024. The matches will be held in Chennai and Kanpur, and the series is part of the 2023-25 World Test Championship. Following the Test series, a three-match T20I series is also scheduled.

Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team. Notably, left-arm seamer Yash Dayal has earned his maiden Test call-up, while wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul return to the squad.

Pacer Akash Deep, batter Sarfaraz Khan, and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel retain their spots. However, Rajat Patidar, Mukesh Kumar, Washington Sundar, and Devdutt Padikkal have been left out from the squad that played the last series against England.

Other key players include specialist batters Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill. In the all-rounders’ department, Ashwin, Jadeja, and Axar Patel will handle spin duties, alongside specialist spinner Kuldeep Yadav.
